The Medical Laboratory Technology Department at Karbala Polytechnic College – Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, organized a scientific symposium titled: “The Increasing Resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Bacteria,” in the presence of a number of academic staff and researchers.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Bilqis Al-Tarfi lectured at the symposium, where she reviewed the phenotypic characteristics of these bacteria when grown on various culture media, the pigments they produce, as well as the diseases they cause.
The symposium also addressed the antibiotics to which the bacteria showed complete resistance, explaining the causes and mechanisms behind this resistance, alongside discussing the factors leading to its increased resistance to antibiotics.
The symposium’s themes emphasized the necessity of following scientific and health methods to reduce the risk of the spread of diseases caused by these bacteria, stressing the importance of enhancing health awareness and supporting scientific research in facing the challenges posed by antimicrobial drug resistance.
This symposium comes as part of a series of scientific activities that the Medical Laboratory Technology Department is keen to organize, contributing to the development of the knowledge of students and academic staff, and elevating the academic and research level of the college.
