As part of the plan for the 2026-2027 academic year, the Accounting Technology Department at Karbala Polytechnic College organized a workshop titled: “Smart Financial Reporting: The Accounting Trend in the Era of Digital Globalization,” delivered by Dr. Haider Jamil Al-Jubouri (Head of the Department).

The workshop addressed digital transformation in the accounting environment, the application of the eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), and the employment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain technologies in automating transactions and achieving compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

The workshop concluded with the following key recommendations:

  1. Standardized Digital Adoption: Mandating the transition to a unified filing system using (XBRL), and automating complex international standards (IFRS 9, 13, 16) using Artificial Intelligence.
  2. Updating Curricula and Skills: Developing accounting courses with a focus on big data analytics (Power BI / Tableau) to qualify the “Smart Accountant.”
  3. Transitioning to Continuous Auditing: Shifting from retrospective auditing to immediate and continuous digital auditing, alongside adopting digital governance and cybersecurity frameworks to ensure the reliability of algorithms.
