About the Department

The department was established in 2010 to build a technical education system within an academic, applied, and practical framework, taking into account scientific progress in building and construction. It relies on a comprehensive quality system and performance development based on the needs of the labor market (both the government and private sectors) in order to elevate this branch to the ranks of specialized international scientific institutions.

The Civil Technologies Department is moving toward expanding the base of technical education and its modern applications, and building a close relationship with various sectors of society in the field of exchanging scientific and practical expertise, as well as activating the role of scientific research in various fields of development.

The department adopts the dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge in the field of civil engineering sciences to graduate national cadres at an educational level that enables them to absorb modern technologies and support the march of scientific and technical development to keep pace with global developments and fulfill the following:



  • Utilizing computer and internet technologies in education and training.

  • Opening up to society in the field of the construction industry and activating the relationship with the private sector in the field of engineering consultations, training, and technical rehabilitation.

  • Setting future plans to develop educational and training curricula and graduating technical cadres in the field of building and construction.

  • Focusing on scientific research between academics in the department and industrial cadres to solve problems in the construction industry and develop its production.


  • Graduating qualified technical cadres capable of carrying out various civil works, conducting laboratory and field tests, executing blueprints and surveys, and calculating quantities and measurements for civil works projects.

  • Accomplishing the largest number of applied scientific researches in cooperation with relevant ministries and departments.

  • Ensuring continuous cooperation between the department and development sectors in engineering and consulting fields.

After completing the program, the graduating student will be qualified to perform the following tasks:



  • Conducting laboratory and field tests for construction materials.

  • Being capable of reading and preparing blueprints for civil engineering projects.

  • Executing engineering surveys specific to civil works projects.

  • Executing items of civil works projects.

  • Calculating quantities and measurements of civil works projects.
