The Accounting Technology Department organized a scientific and cultural visit for its students to the Contemporary Hillah Museum in Babylon Governorate. This visit aims to raise intellectual and heritage awareness among the students.
This scientific visit comes as part of the department’s extracurricular activities and contributes to building the integrated academic personality of the students.
The museum was established in 1920 in the old Mutasarrifiya building of Hillah. It houses thousands of heritage pieces, antiquities, and personal and office collectibles. Its wings also document the social, artistic, and political history of the city, in addition to a massive library containing seminal books.
The visit sought to link education with the nation’s heritage. It enhanced the values of national identity and effective communication among the students. It also provided them with an opportunity to learn about the methods of archiving collectibles and old documents.
The visit significantly enriched the students’ knowledge base. It developed their documentary sense and an understanding of the importance of archiving and accuracy. It also emphasized the importance of educational institutions opening up to cultural and heritage centers.
