The Department of Computer Networks and Software Techniques at Karbala Technical Institute, a component of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, organized an educational seminar titled “Artificial Intelligence and its Relation to Cyber Extortion.” The seminar was delivered by the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Thajil Abdullah, in the presence of members of the institute’s Educational Counseling Committee.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness among students and youth regarding the risks of utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications and software in cyber extortion operations. Additionally, it provided protection methods and strategies to avoid falling victim to such threats.

The event featured interactive discussions between the speaker and the attendees, highlighting the latest cyber extortion techniques that leverage AI technologies. It also reviewed digital security measures that help mitigate and limit this phenomenon.

The presenters emphasized the vital importance of digital literacy and taking the necessary measures to protect personal data, stressing the need to report any cyber extortion cases to the competent authorities. This seminar is part of Karbala Technical Institute’s ongoing educational and awareness efforts to enhance digital security awareness.
