The Financial and Banking Technology Department at Karbala Polytechnic College organized a workshop titled “Women’s Rights in the Work Environment,” with the participation of the Women’s Affairs Unit. This was part of the implementation of the Third National Plan for Women, Peace, and Security 2025–2030, and the dialogue was led by faculty member Dr. Azhar Oweini Abdul Ridha.

The workshop aimed to enhance awareness of women’s rights in the work environment, support the principle of equality and non-discrimination between the sexes, and empower women economically and professionally. In addition, it touched upon reducing the violations that women may face in the workplace and encouraging institutions to adopt fair and equitable policies.

The workshop included the following axes: determining the rights of the female employee, explaining the provisions of the Civil Service Law, and identifying the specific legal controls for a sound work environment.

The lecturer at the workshop called for the necessity of raising the level of legal culture among female workers regarding their employment rights, improving the work environment to be safer and more supportive of women, and reducing cases of discrimination in workplaces. She also emphasized working to increase women’s participation in various fields of work and leadership positions, providing practical recommendations for developing legislation and policies related to women’s rights.

This activity comes in the context of the directions of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research aimed at elevating the quality of university education and enhancing the partnership between the academic institution and society.
