As part of its ongoing efforts to promote health awareness and prevent chronic diseases, the Community Health Technology Department at the Technical Institute of Karbala organized a voluntary activity titled “Blood Glucose Screening for Students and Staff.” The initiative also aimed to reinforce a culture of volunteerism and community service among students.
The activity was conducted in the Nursing Laboratory, with active field participation from students of the department. It was carried out under the direct supervision of faculty members: Ms. Noor Imad Yahya, Mr. Bayan Abdul Sahib Mahdi, and Ms. Nada Adnan Mahdi.
Screenings were performed in accordance with established safety protocols. Procedures included proper hand sanitation, preparation of glucose meters and test strips, precise blood sampling using lancets, and disinfection of the puncture site with cotton and alcohol post-examination.
This initiative reflects the department’s commitment to enhancing students’ practical skills and bridging theoretical knowledge with hands-on training—ultimately contributing to the development of competent and socially responsible healthcare professionals.
