Under the slogan “Husseini Culture and Rituals and the Universality of Their Impact,” and under the patronage of the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, the Technical Institute of Karbala organized the 3rd International Conference titled “Husseini Knowledge and Message.” The event was attended by local and international academic, research, political, administrative, and ideological figures, with the participation of researchers and specialists from Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Turkey, and various Arab countries. The conference was held in cooperation with the Iraqi Academics Syndicate in Karbala, the Cultural and Educational Arbaeen Committee in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Shahid Beheshti University.
The opening session included speeches by the organizing and participating entities, beginning with an address by the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Fadhil Mohammed Dhaher. Welcoming all dignitaries, guests, and participants, he noted that Husseini rituals constitute a religious and behavioral culture with a global and spiritual dimension, serving as a source of civilized and scientific values that enhance cultural interaction and interfaith dialogue through the global Arbaeen pilgrimage to foster tolerance and rapprochement.
Subsequently, the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University and Conference Chairman, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, delivered his speech, stating that the global Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein hosted by the Holy City of Karbala is a civilized ritual that distinguishes modern Islamic civilization. He emphasized that it encompasses numerous scientific, value-based, and civilized dimensions that have reformative impacts on contemporary human life, alongside cultural, economic, and social indicators that scientifically shape the future of the Islamic world and cultural development through Husseini rituals as a form of global cultural diplomacy.
The opening session also featured several other speeches and the presentation of research papers, chaired by Professor Dr. Sabah Al-Jabri with Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Hassan Jawad serving as the session rapporteur. The first paper, titled “The Arbaeen Pilgrimage and Its Impact on Employing Dialogue Among Sects, Religions, and Civilizations,” was presented by Professor Dr. Mohammed Hussein Ali Hussein. The second paper, titled “The Impact of the Husseini Revolution’s Heritage on the Ideas of Certain Western Scholars and Leaders,” was presented by Professor Dr. Mofid Hosseini Kouhsari. The third paper, titled “Children’s Literature in Husseini Service for Arabic Speakers,” was presented by Sheikh Ali Hussein Gholoum. The opening session concluded with the distribution of shields of appreciation to the conference organizers.
