Within its strategy aimed at enhancing the integration between academic and applied paths and opening up to the requirements of the labor market, Karbala Polytechnic College at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University organized the activities of the Third Spring of Tourism Festival. The festival was hosted by the Tourism Technologies Department in cooperation with the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, under the slogan: “Tourism Sustainability and Empowering Entrepreneurial Projects.” It took place in the Imam Rida (Peace Be Upon Him) Hall at exactly 9:00 AM on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in the presence of the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The festival activities commenced with a fragrant recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the reading of Surat Al-Fatiha in mercy for the souls of the martyrs of Iraq and the Islamic nation. Subsequently, the program segments continued with official speeches that collectively emphasized the importance of the tourism sector as a promising developmental pillar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his speech, the Dean of Karbala Polytechnic College, Prof. Dr. Fadel Mohammed Dhaher, delivered a welcoming address in which he greeted the attendees, affirming that the college is continuing to consolidate its role as an applied educational institution that contributes to supplying the labor market with qualified cadres possessing scientific and practical skills. The Dean indicated that the Tourism Technologies Department operates according to a modern vision that keeps pace with global developments in the tourism sector. This is achieved by updating study curricula, enhancing practical training, and opening up to international experiences, thereby ensuring the preparation of graduates capable of innovation and competition. He also emphasized the importance of supporting entrepreneurial projects for students and graduates, and providing an incubating environment for their ideas, contributing to transforming them into productive projects that serve the local economy and enhance the province’s tourism standing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event witnessed broad official and academic attendance, led by the Governor of Holy Karbala, Engineer Nassif Jassim Al-Khattabi, the Chairman of the Provincial Council, Dr. Qasim Al-Yasari, and a number of members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives and the Karbala Provincial Council. They were joined by directors of government departments, institutions, and syndicates, along with an elite group of academics and media professionals, in a scene reflecting the importance of the event and its standing at the local and institutional levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The festival also included official speeches by the Governor of Holy Karbala and the Chairman of the Provincial Council, as well as a speech by the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi. In an important axis of the festival, a job fair was opened with the active participation of a number of multidisciplinary companies and institutions.
