The department was established in 2010 with two branches: Hotel Management and Tourism Guidance. Initially, students were admitted to the Hotel Management specialization from the beginning of the establishment until the academic year 2016. In 2017, the Tourism Guidance branch was opened in addition to the Hotel Management branch.

The Tourism Technology Department at Karbala Technical Institute was established in the 2011 academic year, with two specializations: Hotel Management and Tourism Guidance. Initially, students were accepted into the Hotel Management program until the 2016/2017 academic year, after which the Tourism Guidance specialization was added.

– To prepare and qualify technical personnel to work in hotels, restaurants, resorts, and all types of tourist complexes.

– The Tourism Guidance branch aims to train and qualify tourism guides who possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively communicate information about tourist, recreational, and historical sites to tourists in the best academic manner.
