Established in 1988, the department includes four laboratories: (Operations Laboratory, Metallurgy Laboratory, Electrical Laboratory, and Computer Laboratory), in addition to eight mechanical workshops and two engineering design workshops.

The department seeks to prepare a workforce with technical qualifications that enable them to enter the labor market efficiently. Additionally, it aims to train qualified technical personnel in various fields of computer science and informatics, aligning with the demands of modern technological practices. It is also committed to continuously updating its theoretical curricula and practical applications, as well as improving the performance of its staff.
Objectives:
The department is dedicated to disseminating scientific and technical knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering, graduating national cadres who are well-educated and able to adopt modern technologies.
