As part of the activities of the Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques, second-year students (Evening Study) conducted a scientific visit to the Blood Bank laboratories in Holy Karbala. The students were divided into groups according to the laboratory’s capacity.

During the visit, students received theoretical and practical lectures inside the Blood Bank laboratories. These included an explanation of viral tests in the Virology Laboratory, with a focus on tests for various types of Viral Hepatitis, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and Syphilis, given their importance in screening donor blood before distribution to hospitals.

Furthermore, theoretical and practical lectures were presented on the mechanism of blood withdrawal and the performance of basic tests, including blood grouping and the Complete Blood Count (CBC).
