The Construction and Projects Unit handles all engineering activities related to the Al-Kufa Technical Institute. It is connected to the Construction and Projects Department at the Middle Euphrates Technical University. The work is organized in accordance with engineering specifications, the Resident Engineer’s Guide, and the general contracting conditions. The process begins with identifying the needs of each department, planning future projects, and selecting the appropriate site for each project. The unit also focuses on infrastructure development to ensure the creation of the best possible university environment, in line with advancements in both the scientific and engineering fields. The unit’s work primarily involves managing projects within the investment plan (projects funded by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research) as well as overseeing regional development projects.
To create a comprehensive university environment for the institute in all aspects, including the construction of buildings, classrooms, and laboratories that can accommodate the growing number of students and staff. This will keep pace with global urban development, producing graduates who possess high academic and technical standards, capable of embodying the distinctive qualities of the Iraqi technician. The goal is to enable graduates to secure job opportunities and contribute to scientific advancement. The unit also envisions the establishment of an alternative university city in a more suitable location, with the aim of achieving the highest international standards of development.
The mission is the guiding framework that defines the activities of the unit. It involves preparing future plans to improve existing buildings and establish new ones that align with the latest global standards in building engineering, architecture, and related fields. These plans are designed to ensure that the institute reaches advanced positions in all aspects, aiming for continuous growth and development in line with global academic and architectural advancements.
The objective is to prepare and graduate a highly skilled and knowledgeable engineering workforce capable of contributing to the country’s development and advancement. This includes overseeing the construction of modern and advanced buildings that align with the scientific development of institutes, academic departments, research centers, and administrative services. Additionally, the unit is responsible for upgrading and renovating older buildings and departments within the institute by adding floors and rehabilitating old sections. Each department prepares an annual plan outlining their needs, which is approved and translated into specific requirements for buildings and operational resources, ensuring their availability. The unit operates under the direct supervision of the Vice Dean for Financial and Administrative Affairs and the general oversight of the Dean, in line with the prestigious status of the Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University.
