In continuation of the Entrepreneurship Week celebrations, and under the slogan “The Private Sector: A Key Pillar for Progress and Prosperity,” Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, in collaboration with Karbala Technical Institute, organized its third job fair and first at the institute, aimed at providing employment opportunities for graduates within the Karbala Governorate.
The event was held under the patronage of the President of the University, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, and was attended by a number of government officials, representatives of participating organizations, as well as academic leaders such as Assistant Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Ahmed Ghanem Oday, Deans of Al-Musayyib Technical College and the Technical Institutes of Al-Musayyib and Babel, along with a large audience of graduate students and staff.
The attendees were welcomed by the Dean of Karbala Technical Institute, Professor Dr. Fadel Abdul Zaher, who oversaw the organization of the fair along with the institute’s staff.
The event began with a recitation from the Quran, followed by the reading of Al-Fatiha for the souls of Iraq’s martyrs, and the national anthem was played.
In his speech, Dr. Al-Zubaidi emphasized the university’s efforts to prepare graduates through various training courses and workshops focused on soft and hard skills to better equip them for the job market. He also highlighted the establishment of the Industrial Advisory Council by the university, which includes representatives from both the private and mixed sectors, as well as company managers, contributing to activities that create real job opportunities for graduates.
Dr. Al-Zubaidi noted that the university had organized two previous job fairs in the past two years, with the participation of dozens of private sector companies, offering over 1,500 job opportunities in various industrial, production, and tourism sectors.
He expressed his gratitude to the supporting organizations, the Institute’s administration, and the organizing committee for their contributions to making the fair a success.
The opening ceremony also featured speeches from the Dean of Karbala Technical Institute, a representative from private sector companies, and a success story shared by the Director of Al-Mateen Electrical Appliances Company.
Additionally, the President of the University presented certificates of appreciation to the supporting entities and companies involved in the fair, all of whom expressed their willingness to continue collaborating in the future. They also praised the competence of the university’s graduates and their companies’ readiness to employ many of them.
In the same vein, the President of the University honored a number of retired staff members, then, along with the attendees, cut the ribbon to officially open the fair and toured the booths of the 27 participating companies. They reviewed the 436 available job opportunities, with over 1,500 graduates submitting their CVs and applying for the offered positions.
The fair received significant media attention from both official and private sector media outlets. It is noteworthy that Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University continues to support its students by fostering their creative ideas and innovative initiatives in both scientific and technical fields, aiming to contribute to the development of society and the service of our beloved country.
