Women's Affairs Unit

Unit Director: Asst. Lect. Israa Hassan Al-Mimar

It is an administrative unit under the office of the respected Dean, established on 19th February 2023.

The Women’s Empowerment Unit is one of the most important units working to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women. Through its mechanisms, it aims to assist women in becoming self-reliant and enhancing their academic and social development. This approach fosters a more inclusive and participatory development process between men and women. Consequently, development is not merely a social welfare service for women, but rather a social development initiative that enables women to possess the economic and social power necessary for self-reliance. This, in turn, improves their conditions continuously and empowers them to participate in decision-making processes.

Karbala Technical Institute Organizes Several Activities to Support Women and Combat Violence Against Them
As part of the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, the Women’s Empowerment Unit at the Karbala Technical Institute, in cooperation with the Department of Intellectual Affairs at the Al-Ataba Al-Hussainiya, organized a series of activities targeting a wide range of staff and students. The campaign included a number of seminars and lectures that focused on the status of women in Islam, according to divine legislation, and the importance of their role in societal development. The events also discussed how women can protect their legal and legitimate rights in light of the challenges they face.
Additionally, the campaign addressed the impact of globalization on the values and principles of university students and the role of higher education in confronting globalization. It highlighted the importance of fostering a sense of belonging among university students and the dangers of globalization on developing societies, along with strategies for confronting these challenges in the face of media and cyber-attacks, particularly affecting youth.
The campaign also featured a series of educational and advisory videos about women’s issues, which were presented in various sections and halls of the institute.
