The Department of Information Technology Engineering at Karbala Polytechnic College organized a workshop titled “The Authenticity and Credibility of Scientific Journals in Academic Publishing.” The event saw active participation from several faculty members, researchers, and undergraduate students.
The workshop aimed to enhance researchers’ awareness regarding the mechanisms of verifying the authenticity and credibility of scientific journals before submitting their research. It also emphasized ensuring that a journal aligns with the researcher’s specialization and scientific orientation, thereby guaranteeing publishing quality and safeguarding the academic path.
The workshop, presented by Assistant Lecturer Qusay Abdullah Abed, included a detailed explanation of the evaluation criteria for scientific journals, methods for inspecting their specialization and indexing status within reputable repositories (databases). Furthermore, it highlighted warnings against predatory journals and outlined the risks that publishing in them poses to a researcher’s academic reputation.
