In harmony with its strategy aimed at enhancing a safe work environment and establishing occupational safety concepts in academic institutions, the Mechanical Technology Engineering Department at Karbala Polytechnic College organized a workshop titled “Modern Safety Standards in Engineering Work,” with the participation of a number of department staff and staff from administrative divisions and units.

The workshop aimed to introduce the latest approved international legislation and standards in the field of engineering safety, shedding light on prevention and crisis management strategies. Furthermore, it explained the importance of emergency planning and the application of preventive measures that contribute to reducing occupational risks and achieving a safe work environment.

The workshop, lectured by Lecturer Dr. Sarah Mohi Jawad, included a review of the latest guidelines and approved systems to ensure safety in engineering work sites. It focused on methods of preventing occupational risks and ways to handle emergency situations, in addition to discussing preventive procedures and organizational measures that enhance the safety culture within institutions.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the lecturers called for the necessity of spreading the culture of occupational safety among workers and students. They emphasized the importance of continuous training and following approved procedures and instructions, which contributes to reducing occupational risks and achieving a safe and sustainable work environment.

This activity comes in the context of the directions of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research aimed at elevating the quality of university education and enhancing effective partnership between the academic institution and society.
