In reference to the directives of the Presidency of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and with the support of the Deanship of Karbala Polytechnic College, the Medical Laboratory Technology Department held an awareness dialogue seminar titled “Risks of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Methods of Prevention,” in cooperation with the Holy Karbala Health Directorate, at the Imam Al-Ridha (Peace Be Upon Him) Hall in the college.
The seminar’s activities took place in the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Fadel Mohammed Dhaher; the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs and Students, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Fadel Al-Yasiri; and the Associate Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Kadhim Al-Sharifi, along with a number of the college’s faculty and students.
The seminar was organized under the supervision of the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Salem Hussein Hassan. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Ali Jawad Karim, a physician at the Karbala Health Directorate, and Mr. Mahdi Musa Mahdi Hamid, a medical assistant at the same directorate. They presented a scientific overview covering the nature of the virus, its transmission methods, the importance of early detection, and methods of prevention and health awareness.
The seminar witnessed remarkable interaction from the attendees through asking questions and making scientific interventions, which contributed to enhancing health awareness among students and consolidating the concepts of responsible preventive behavior within the university community.
This event comes within the framework of Karbala Polytechnic College’s keenness to implement awareness programs that contribute to community service and enhance partnership with health institutions, in line with the vision of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University and the directions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in supporting health culture and quality of education.
