The Medical Laboratory Technology Department at Karbala Polytechnic College – Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University (ATU) – has concluded a five-day training program titled “Early Diagnosis and Control of Fungal Diseases.” This program is part of a scientific series aimed at developing the diagnostic and laboratory skills of participants.
Lectures were delivered by Prof. Dr. Zainab Abdul-Mohsen, Assistant Lecturer Israa Jawad Abdul-Rasool, and Assistant Lecturer Zainab Abdul-Hassan Fadhil. The sessions covered mechanisms for the early detection of fungal diseases and methods to limit their spread, focusing on accurate diagnostic techniques such as microscopic examinations and fungal cultures.
The program also discussed the importance of early diagnosis in preventing the progression of fungal infections and stressed the necessity of adhering to personal hygiene standards and avoiding the sharing of tools and clothing, which are primary factors in transmission.
The program concluded with advanced practical experiments, including microscopic examination, isolation, and Petri dish cultivation of various samples from teeth, gums, scalp, and the air. This hands-on training aimed to equip participants with modern laboratory techniques, enhance their competency in medical diagnostics, and contribute to elevating the standard of health and research services within the college.
