Jul 03, 2025
In alignment with Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University’s commitment to human capacity development and enhancing graduate skills to meet labor market demands, the Technical Institute of Karbala participated in the Training of Trainers (TOT) program on Soft Skills. The institute was represented by Lecturer Rasool Taher Al-Asadi, Director of the Career Development and Employment Unit, as part of the university’s delegation. The training was held in Erbil and organized by the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) under the framework of the international “Tawasul” project.
The program featured a series of interactive workshops aimed at developing a set of core professional competencies essential for career success. Key topics included effective communication, marketing, self-presentation, emotional intelligence, time management, and teamwork. These sessions prepared participants to become certified trainers capable of transferring these skills to students and graduates, thereby supporting their career readiness and inspiring entrepreneurship and self-initiated ventures.
This participation builds on the project’s first phase, which included the development of a comprehensive soft skills training curriculum tailored to Iraqi technical universities. The curriculum has since been formally printed and adopted for implementation within the program.
At the conclusion of the training, participation certificates were awarded in the presence of trainers and coordinators, recognizing the strong engagement and dedication of all participants toward achieving the program’s objectives.
The Technical Institute of Karbala’s involvement reaffirms its commitment to developmental and training initiatives aimed at youth empowerment, and to strengthening partnerships with international organizations in pursuit of enhanced higher education quality and stronger alignment between academic outcomes and the needs of both local and global labor markets.
