As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between academic institutions and the industrial sector, an academic delegation from Karbala Technical Institute responded to an official invitation from Iraq Steel Company for Industrial Investments and Manufacturing. The visit took place at the company’s headquarters in Karbala Province and aimed to exchange expertise and explore the latest technologies employed in the steel manufacturing industry.
The delegation was welcomed by Engineer Nawar Al-Amiri, the company’s director, who expressed his appreciation for the initiative and emphasized the importance of sustained dialogue between academia and industry in achieving productive integration that supports national development. During the meeting, Engineer Al-Amiri shared an overview of the company’s history, outlined the challenges facing the steel industry in Iraq, and presented the advanced technologies adopted by the company to improve the efficiency and quality of rebar production in compliance with international standards.
Engineer Al-Amiri conveyed the company’s interest in expanding collaboration with Karbala Technical Institute through joint applied research projects to address technical challenges, hosting faculty and students for hands-on training, and providing technical support for engineering and laboratory testing. He also expressed the company’s intent to formalize this partnership through a memorandum of understanding covering all discussed areas of academic and practical cooperation.
The academic delegation, in turn, expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and the company’s genuine interest in establishing a strategic partnership with Karbala Technical Institute. They affirmed their readiness to collaborate across various fields, including knowledge exchange, scientific visits for students, and joint research initiatives that contribute to the growth and modernization of Iraq’s industrial sector.
The visit concluded with a comprehensive tour of the company’s production departments. The delegation observed all stages of rebar manufacturing and explored the cutting-edge technologies used along the production lines, gaining deeper insight into both technical challenges and potential areas for innovation and development.
